The Lord Answers Earnest Prayer
Hello!! Here's a quick email update of a couple weeks!
I've been working hard in these past weeks to help others come to know our Savior, and in doing so, I've come to know him better too. Many times we have goals and plans that we want to complete in this life. The wonderful thing about that is God wants to help us complete those goals, bring about the fulfilment of those plans. I had the opportunity to put that to test this week! While reading in the Book of Mormon, I felt inspired to follow an invitation from the prophet Mormon when he spoke to his son about faith, hope and charity. What caught my attention was that God calls men of great faith and sound minds to call others unto repentance in order to bring about the work of His covenants unto His chosen vessels. Moroni 7:30-31 "For behold, they are subject unto him, to minister according to the word of his command, showing themselves unto them of strong faith and a firm mind in every form of godliness. And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfil and to do the work of the covenants of the Father, which he hath made unto the children of men, to prepare the way among the children of men, by declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of him." I thought to myself "well, I've been called to do this work, am I of great faith and of a sound mind? Am I trying at all times to call my brothers and sisters unto repentance?" Reflecting so, I decided I needed to change something in what I was doing. I decided that day that I needed to increase my faith in my calling and my faith in the scripture promises. I knelt that morning and said an esrnest prayer, asking Heavenly Father to guide me to a man who desperately needed the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his life, someone who was willing to put it into practice. Later that night, while I was in Exchanges with Elder Shin, we met Luis Alberto, the man for which I had prayed to God to find. I feel blessed to have been part of that interaction, that first meeting, and that Luis could start to find the healing that he needed in the words of two young men he hadn't ever met before. Something else I was reminded that day is that also, even when we think we have great goals and great plans, we need to always be willing to accept that God's goals and God's plan is the best for us, and we need to always be searching so that those goals and plans become ours.
This Saturday we had the opportunity to help Arline make a sacred covenant with our Heavenly Father upon being baptized. I've been a witness to the small and great changes in her life since we met her and her family 4 weeks ago. Her mom and brothers are still seeking and earnestly praying for their answers to their questions, but Arline has shown us amazing faith in making her decision after receiving her answer, even though she would be making it alone.
I love you all and hope you can take some time to write me a little update! Just cause I'll be home in 3 months doesn't mean wait to talk to me in 3 months😉😂
Don't forget these truths I shared today! God is your Heavenly Father. He loves you. He knows what's best for you. Never doubt that. When you look for guidance and direction, do so earnestly with a sincere desire to do what God would that you do. The feelings you receive upon doing so will never guide you wrong.
