Jensen update for Nov. 15th, 2021...
Hola Mi Hijo & Familia!
I feel like this week is "deja vu!" It's been the same as last week for me and I'm sitting here wondering what to write to Kyle and all of you. I don't really have earth shattering things that happen in my "daily" activities. So I don't really know what to write...
In thinking hard about what I've done this week, I did remember a little "Spanish" situation (Missionary Moment) that happened to Dad & I while we went out on a lunch DATE last week. 😄Yes, Dad was cute and "asked me out" for a lunch date and we ended up going to a Mexican place in Corvallis that Dad's boss & a couple co-workers went to recently. The waitress was really nice and we both ordered the "verde enchilada special!" It was good!! But while we were waiting for food in general, we overheard a lady leaving the restaurant and saying Happy Bday to the waitress. (& the waitress embarrassingly shushed her quickly.) When the waitress came to our table again, I tried to say "Feliz Cumpleanos" to her, but I said "Feliz Navidad" first and then corrected myself. Haja! She was surprised I was trying to speak in Spanish, but I think she was grateful I was trying to be friendly and speak in her native tongue. I did explain that we just had a son leave 3wks ago to go to Mexico and serve a Mission for "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (which was really long to say and felt awkward in that setting) but the waitress asked "oh, how old is he?" and we said 19 and she said something like "Oh, good! you're doing a good job!" I also described to her that our son had gone through a language training at our house before he had gone out to Mexico. So we all learned a little more "Spanish" during that time because our son would try to totally immerse himself in learning the language and try to only speak Spanish some days. I think she was thankful for the little interaction and Dad gave her a good "Bday Tip!" It was a good little Missionary Moment. And from that interaction, I want to just say how proud I am of Kyle and all of you kids for being "such good kids!" I know it's hard for teenagers & young adults (outside & inside the church) to continue to make the most correct choices/decisions in general & especially when faced with all the "CRAP!" around them in this World!! I'm glad you all make those good choices! I love you lots!!
So in thinking of all the other things that happened this week, there's not too much besides fun Karaoke YW activities, running kids to Pep band or delivering cinnamon rolls around to people who ordered them, etc. etc. Haja! We've had some busy activities like usual! Tomorrow we're playing "BUNCO!" for YW/YM combined activity. I offered to head this up if the YW wanted me to do it sometime and they said "yes please, this month" Haja! I've been getting scoresheets & prizes all ready! (I already had most of it put together, but I realized I should probably teach the "real rules" of Bunco and not the Barlow rules.) Plus us Barlows haven't played it for quite a while!! So I had to brush up on the rules. (If any of you want the rules and score sheets I'm putting together, I can send them out to you all when I get them done. It's a fun mix & mingle game to play with lots of people or just 4 people!)
I do have another spiritual thought about this week, but I better leave that for another email and get this sent off. I am going to go help Sis. Brown with some costumes today because NAMS is having their Moana Musical this weekend and dress rehearsal is tonight! Sis. Brown needs some last min. help!! Ugh! Our YW presidency has been really stressed out about this play because they all have girls in the play (but me) and they all are committed to do something for it, like costumes or choreograph the dances, etc. So, a little help here and there to them, helps our Presidency! 😊
Love you All!
❤ Con Amore! ¡Adiós!
Madre
